November 20th, 2009 - From My Seat, the book on the journey through the 2008-2009 UConn Men's Basketball Final Four season written by former manager Kyle Lyddy, will be released on Sunday, December 6th, 2009. Author Kyle Lyddy will be at Ted's from 12:00-5:00 on the Sunday of the release to sell the first copies of the book. The book will be available to purchase for $20 at Ted's.
"I am excited to be able to share my experiences as a manager of the UConn Men's Basketball team with the entire college basketball landscape," Lyddy said. "The funny stories from practice, the serious Calhoun moments and the little things you may not have known about some of the Husky players are highlighted throughout the book. Jim Calhoun's program has been an inspiration to me and I am once again excited to share these behind the scene moments. The book isn't just for Husky fans though. Understand what it is like to be involved with a top division one program like UConn Men's Basketball. Sure, it is entertainment, but when you are involved like I was, you realize what a business it really is. December 6th can't come soon enough. Thank goodness it's basketball season!"
Newtown's Lyddy writes book about experiences as manager with UConn basketball team
Danbury News Times - Kevin Duffy
Kyle Lyddy remembers exactly how he became enamored with UConn men's basketball.
He was a first-grader at The Hawley School in Newtown. Mrs. Smith -- a first-grade teacher and UConn fanatic -- used to bring in a small, portable radio so she could listen in on the Huskies during the NCAA Tournament.
Mrs. Smith wasn't Lyddy's teacher, but during March Madness, Lyddy always ended the day in her room.
While the rest of the students waited in their seats for buses to be called, Lyddy sat with Mrs. Smith -- just the two of them -- and glued his ear to her radio.
"Doron Sheffer, Donyell Marshall," Lyddy recalled hearing. "I remember thinking `Oh man, this is awesome.'"
The rest is history.
Lyddy graduated from Newtown High in 2005 and, with the help of his high school basketball coach, John Quinn, he landed a job as a student-manager for UConn men's basketball when he enrolled at UConn that fall. (MORE)

Hartford Courant - Mike Anthony
Kyle Lyddy, 22, is a recent UConn graduate who spent his four years in Storrs as a team manager with the men's basketball team. He has a unique perspective on the program and its people.
The Newtown native kept a journal along the way during last season's run to the Final Four, and now he is sharing his experiences in a book entitled "From My Seat."
He took time to answer some questions for us here. Lyddy will hold a book signing from noon-5 p.m. at Teds in Storrs on Sunday. For more information on Lyddy and the book, visit www.frommyseatbook.com.

Lyddy Brings Readers Into UConn Locker Room In His Book ‘From My Seat’
Newtown Bee - Andy Hutchison
During the last four seasons, Kyle Lyddy got to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes activity surrounding the University of Connecticut men's basketball team — from what goes on in preseason workouts and practices all the way to the nationally televised courtside action in the NCAA Tournament six months later.
Lyddy, of Newtown, was a student manager for the Huskies for all four years of his collegiate career, and was a traveling manager for his final two seasons at UConn.
"There were some funny things that went on that I would die to read if I was a UConn fan," Lyddy said.(MORE)
